All those days after posting this article "Knockout king aims for 20th KO?" I always believed that the young and explosive Tyrone Brunson will achieve his 20th KO as he go against Mexican boxer Antonio Soriano for his 20th fight. I was wrong.
The 19-bout first round KO streak of middleweight Brunson (19-0-1, 19 KOs) came to an abrupt halt as he was held to a six round majority draw by Soriano (12-9-2) on Friday night at River Cree Resort and Casino in Edmonton. Soriano came on strong late in the bout with a brutal body attack. Judges saw the bout 56-56 twice and 58-56 Brunson. The majority draw decision was met with boos from the 800 in attendance, while Soriano received a huge round of applause for his performance. Brunson began his career with 19 consecutive first round KOs, eclipsing the mark set by world champion Edwin Valero.
