Support for the Pacman

Hall-of-Fame promoter Bob Arum agrees with American trainer Freddie Roach that Manny Pacquiao may outnumber Oscar de la Hoya in terms of getting the support of Mexican fight fans. "Manny has endeared himself to the Mexican fight fans because he's been the active fighter, he's fought the Mexicans, he's conducted himself like a gentleman and he fights like a Mexican," said Arum. "Manny has tremendous, tremendous fans among the Mexicans. I think to some extent he may have more fans than Oscar does among Mexicans." Interviewed in the Sports Chat show over dzSR Sports Radio 918kHz last week, Roach said de la Hoya may get the surprise of his life in seeing Mexican fight fans rooting for his Filipino opponent come fight night.
