Former champion Antonio Margarito had given the previously unbeaten WBA champion Miguel Cotto his first defeat in 33 fights via 11th round KO. Margarito regained the world welterweight title with a brilliant display of heart and determination in their championship bout at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
It was a good fight as the two boxers had exchanged some power punches and stunning jabs. However, in the 11th round, Margarito battered Cotto and floored the latter twice before calling it over.
